I need to know if the unit is dead or its the battery?

When I plug the unit in to either the computer, wall or vehicle it will not charge. not getting a flashing red light.
the red light stays solid for a minute or two and then turns off.

please help. if its just the battery I will order a new one however if its the unit then I have whole other set of problems

Hello,

We apologize for the delay in replying to your post. How long have you allowed the device to charge for? Have you tried performing a soft reset on the device while its connected to the power source?

Mine does exactly the same. Red light comes on for 3-5 seconds and then goes off. Won't turn on, can't reset. Was doing something similar last time I used it and I found that if I repeatedly unplugged the charger and waited for 20seconds and plugged it in again, eventually it would start charging but not any more.

NZDavid,

Are you charging your device using the AC Charger or USB Cable? Here are some troubleshooting steps that might be of help to you...

1. Leave the battery out of the device for about 10-15 minutes
2. Insert the battery back into the device and replace the battery cover
3. Connect the device to the AC Charger and allow your device to take a charge for about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
4. Perform a soft reset on the device. The soft reset button is located on the left side of the device.
5. Attempt to power your device on once more

Thank you,

I am charging with an AC charger.
Done 1,2 & 3.
Red light went for about 30seconds and turned off.
Doesn't appear to be enough charge to turn on or soft reset.

NZDavid,

The problem might be caused by the device or battery. Is it possible for you to interchange batteries?

If not possible, then we can offer to have you send the device into our location for inspection. How long have you owned the device for?

would suggest for you to contact our Tech Support department to obtain additional information on the return process. Our email address is support@pharosgps.com and our phone number is (888) 742-7678.

Thank you,
