I have a GPS-360 that came with Streets and Trips 2005. It worked in Vista (32bit) without any updates or new drivers, but will not work on my new Windows 7 64bit laptop. When I plug it in to a USB port I get the message "Device drvier software was not successfully installed" and it shows up as a USB-Serial Controller.
Downloading and running PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_10311.exe Makes NO difference. Where exactly is the driver located when it is installed, so I can manually search for it during the add new hardware or Update driver, because Windows 7 is not finding it.
The light in the GPS comes on and clearly Windows 7 detects it and seems to realize it some sort of USB-serial device.
I have tried different combination of uninstalling the device, plugging it in, running the driver installer, rebooting, then plugging the GPS in. Uninstalling the driver and device and trying a different sequence. Streets and Trips runs fine, but does not sense any GPS device. |

Hello CH_MN,
Please do the following: 1. Uninstall the device from Device Manager, to do this: right click on USB Serial Controller and click on Uninstall. 2. Delete any files associated with this driver on your computer 3. Disconnect the GPS receiver from the computer 4. Restart your computer 5. Connect the GPS receiver 6. Open Device Manager and try to update the driver once more
Please give this a try and let us know if you continue to experience problems.
Thank you, Tech Support

| I also have the same problem dell 64 bit. I have Windows 7 and streets and trips 2008. I have done as instructed and deleted the drivers for the usb, it still does not detect that I've plugged it in, even though the light comes on. I downloaded the pharos driver in hopes that would work too. Any wisdom or knowledge you could share would be greatly appreciated. |

Hello,
What directory is the GPS being detected under in Device Manager? Have you tried updating the driver automatically using Windows Update utility?
Please advise, Tech Support

I have a GPS 360 (p/n 360-1000-02) and am having the same issues as mentioned in this forum. The GPS is seen as "Other Device/USBserial Controller" under the device manager. Windows is not able to detect and recommends visiting the manufactures web site for support.
I do not have streets and trips installed on this computer. I just want to use this GPS with another program.

| I am having the same exact problem. I'm using Windows 7 32-bit and not using Streets & Trips. Is there any fix for this? |
