is there any way to actually turn off this phone so that there is no battery drain.? Or must one remove the battery?

Hello,

Unfortunately, you will not be able to shut the phone off completely (when using the power button). However, you can slide the battery cover off a bit and this will trigger the phone to shut off.

Thank you,
