Perhaps I am slow, but I can't see the GPS data appended to my photos. I run the GeoTagging wizard with no problem, but when I view the Photo Info in my camera software there is nothing in the lat and long fields.

I shoot an EOS 40D and use Digital Photo Professional (Canon software) to look at Photo Data.

Is the data put in another field that I can't see?

Thanks for any insight provided.

No, I probably hadn't registered my unit...I'll try that tonight. I'm leaving in a few days for a vacation in England and I would very much like to be able to geotag my photos on the trip!

Thanks,
Bob

Have you registered your Trips and Pics GPS?

You will need the serial number on the back of the unit.

You will also need the 12 digit UPS code on the back of the package (818984002709).

Now you can download a newer version of the software (1.7.6.1).

The it will update to the newest version 1.7.6.2

Hope that helps!

I'm also having problems getting my photos to geotag. I'm running Trips & Pics version 1.6.0.0 on Vista 64 bit with all current security updates. I've installed the PL-2303 USB to Serial driver per the instructions on this site. This version of the software worked fine on my previous PC which was running Vista 32 bit.

There does not seem to be any problem downloading the data from the GPS receiver to the PC. As I go through the steps in Classic Mode I do not see the option to "Add location data to EXIF header" nor do I see the option to "Keep original file", which I did see on my previous PC.

The software goes through all the steps of creating the trip and says that it is geotagging the photos, and when I view the trip in Google Earth the thumbnails appear in the proper place...but clicking them only brings up an empty placeholder...not a photo. When I view the EXIF data in Microsoft Pro Photo Tools 2 or Photoshop Elements 7 the Location data fields are all empty.

Is there a later version of the Trips & Pics software? Where can I find it? The maps and software downloads page shows these as unavailable at this time. Would the latest version fix this problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. I am using JPG, but I may have missed the checkbox. I have tried again, but now I get hung up at 97 to 99% of GeoTagging completed.

Any suggestions? I am running Vista Home.

Thanks.

The geotagging feature currently only works with photos in JPG format. So make sure your photos are not in raw format. Also, when you use the Geotagging Wizard, make sure you select the "Add location data to EXIF header" option.
